Hello native English speakers. It's very kind of you to help me. 1. Harriet's husband is unmercifully critical of her. 2. Harriet's husband criticizes her unmercifully. Question: Which is grammatically correct? Do both have the same meaning? Which is better? What is the difference between two. From those two sentences above, I deduce these two noun phrasees: ① Harriet's husband unmerciful criticizing of her. or, ② Harriet's husband unmerciful criticism of her. Which is correct noun phrase?

The second one sounds more natural but both are technically correct!
