Since 'news' is plural, is the following correct: "Why are they posting these kinds of news." I don't think it'd be correct to say 'this kind' here. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm afraid you are not correct. 'News' is not plural. It is uncountable. It just ends with an 's' so many students of English get confused. But it's just a regular uncountable noun so takes singular verbs, determiners, etc. ... this kind of news. This is really bad news! The news is depressing these days.

You can say “Why are they posting these kinds of news stories/articles?” Or also “Why are they posting this kind of news story/article?” (A subtlety that would often be overlooked in casual speech - different stories or different kinds of stories)

It may not be grammatically correct but "this news" is the common way it is said here in America. I think it is because news can be singular or plural. It could be many stories or just one article. One article is still news.

Hi! You're correct, "this kind" shouldn't be there. However, it would be better to use "the kind of news" in this case as it's an uncountable noun. If you want to avoid this problem all together, then just use a different way of saying it... How about "according to a recent news report,...." Hope this helps :)
