The Asturias Kraken museum. While I was writing this text about the giant squids that often appear dead on the Asturias beaches, in our nearest western district, my mind was into how to put down in words where they come from, their unusual big size and the museum that has been created with all the dead specimens that have been recovered from the beaches, I was also thinking about attaching this text with a picture of the Kraken’s museum. Then, my stomach must have waken up because my mind has turn in other direction thinking about the tiny squid specimens so appreciated in our local gastronomy, and what the people would think if I attached a picture of “squids in their own ink”, which is one of the many dishes that cooks make with them. The peculiarity is that the dish I’m talking about looks completely black and few people would dare to taste it, specially if they doesn’t know what is it. Once I have made up my mind, I have to say that they are really big, even longer than six yards. They come from abyssal depths in front of the Asturias coast and they regularly appear dead on the shore line, dragged by the submarine currents. I prefer the small ones, mainly just caught, just a little fried with some also fried onions. The Kraken is an Scandinavian mythology creature, but looking at this monsters it isn’t a weird thing to consider that there was something real besides the myth. Thanks for reading and correcting me.
