Write a letter to your friend. Thank him/her for inviting you and explain your reasons. MY LETTER: Dear John, I’ve received your letter, suggesting I spend a holiday together with you in Thailand. Thank you very much for the invitation, and I think this is really a great idea because I’ve long heard about the beautiful architectures in Thailand. But I’m sorry to say due to my busy work, I’ll not be able to go on this trip with you. As I’ve mentioned to you before, my company, China Mobile, has planned to build the new-generation mobile network this year and at the beginning of this project, my department needs to collect a massive amount of data concerning the network status so that they’ll be able to improve its quality in the next stage of the project. As a result, my colleagues and I have to devote the first half of this year’s time into it. So I’m afraid we’ll have to travel together next time. Anyway, many thanks for your great idea and I wish you a wonderful journey. Perhaps, you can go with Tom, who, I believe, is quite free these days, and has been longing for a trip to Thailand. MY LETTER:

Dear John,

I’ve received your letter, inviting me to spend a holiday together with you in Thailand. Thank you very much for the invitation. I think this is really a great idea because I’ve long heard about the beautiful architectures in Thailand.
