Hi These sentences have the same meaning, right? 1. I'm stopping in a coffee shop before going to work. 2. I'm stopping by a coffee shop before going to work. The terms "stop in" and "stop by" have the same meaning/ Thank you so much.

The two sentences convey the same meaning. However, stop in and stop by do not have the same meaning. "stop in", means you stopped inside the coffee shop. "stop by", means you stopped near the coffee shop.

By is also *near* something while *in* is inside something. So do you go inside the coffee shop? Or you just pass by the coffee shop? Though the meaning of the sentences are same still they have a bit of difference.
