A password is a type of code. However, "code" has a meaning that is much broader than its meaning relative to "password". Password - a relatively short series of letters, numbers, symbols, pictures, images or sounds which are used to "unlock" something (a door, a computer, a computer program, a message, etc.) that has been designed to only be used by those who know the password Code - 1) a system of communication that translates a language into a standard set of "signals" (sounds, light flashes, flag signals, etc.) which can be transmitted over long distances, for example, morse code; 2) a system used for either secrecy or brevity of communication in which the standard numbers or letters of communication are represented by other numbers, letters or symbols, a "cipher" (which is the key to the true meaning of the numbers, letters or symbols) is needed to translate the code to regular language; 3) a password as defined above; 4) a system used to define a common set of rules that are followed by all users of the system, for example, computer software code or a code of law.

Basically a "password" is referring to a special key that allows you to use something, while a "code" can be explained as "encoding". If talking about specific examples - in IT "code" refers to the system or programming language that make software work, while "password" is used only with the meaning of a "key"
