You are absolutely right. Always use "Meri" for female subject. and "Mera" for male subject. The meaning of "Meri" and "Mera" is same, that is "Mine" for more than two people u can use "Hamara" (additional information) Hope the answer to the question.

HI, Urdu is my native language and I teach my students. Don't confuse 1. Mera / Meri /Mary are matter to Noun 2. if the noun is Singular + Masculine, we will use " Mera" 3. if the noun is Plural + Masculine, we will use " Mary" 4. if the noun is Feminine we will use " Meri" no matter noun is Singular or Plural. mera - for things which are masculine in gender. e.g mera ghar (because ghar is m word) mera college.(my college, college is masculine in hindi-urdu) meri for femenine things e.g. meri kitaab meri gaadi meri cycle etc.
