Bella domanda... Dipende. Si usa più al sud che al nord, ma io per esempio lo uso moltissimo anche se sono del nord, riferendomi a svariati mesi o anni precedenti. Per esempio: "3 mesi fa andai a mangiare in quel ristorante." è una frase molto elegante. Il passato remoto rende molto più ricco e bello il linguaggio.

In parte e` vero: nel parlato il passato remoto si usa di rado; se usato nel modo giusto, trovo che sia un piacere sentirlo. In Sicilia e` molto piu` frequente il suo utilizzo.

si usa poco, dire che non si usa piu' e' sbagliato: dipende molto dalla frase, dal contesto..spesso sono equivalenti grammaticalmente, ma il p. remoto suona piu' arcaico.

A me il passato remoto piace ma lo uso poco.
