What's the difference between"vorne" and "vorn" in German? Are "vorne" and "vorn" the same in German? en.pon.com seems to think so. But google translate thinks "vorn" is ADV but "vorne" is ADJ. Could someone shed some light? Thanks.I guess the details should come here. Thanks for answering. I read the first sentence in "Demian". "Um meine Geschichte zu erzählen, muß ich weit vorn anfangen." As I did not recognize "vorn", I typed it into google. Google gave me Translations of vorn adverb in front voraus, davor, vorn, vorneweg at the front vorn, vorweg fore vorn But I remember reading the word "vorne" to mean the same. So I googled it. This is what I got Translations of vorne adjective up front vorne I tried searching to see if there is an explanation somewhere but couldn't find it. In my text book, there is a sentence: "Es ist gleich da vorne". Google translate will not tell you parts of speech if you type in a sentence.

Hello, According to Duden online, vorn and vorne are the same, but "vorne" is colloquial: http://www.duden.de/rechtschreibung/vorn_davor_zuerst_vorneweg

I think Pons is right, I can't come up with an example where one couldn't exchange "vorn" with "vorne". And "vorne" is also an adverb. The adjective is "vordere". You can't say "der vorne Sitz", you say "der vordere Sitz". However, you can use "vorne" as a sort of postposition ("der Sitz vorne"). Could you give an example of why google translate seems to use "vorne" as an adjective? Maybe we can clear up the confusion.
