Should I use 'en' or 'le/la/les' - Object pronouns Context: My girlfriend asked me if I did some duolingo this morning. If I replied "Yes, I did some" which object pronoun should I use? Oui, j'en ai fait. ou Oui, je l'ai fait. At first I used "Oui, j'en ai fait", because of the translation of "some", but then I thought that's only really used for food or something that requires the partitive article, par exemple "Est-ce que tu veux manger du riz". "Oui, j'en veux". I think part of the confusion may be because in informal English we're very lazy. I don't think (I'm not a language student or teacher, so correct me if I'm wrong) that "I did some duolingo" is correct. It should probably be "I practiced my French on duolingo".Edit: The original question was "est-ce que tu fais ton duolingo?".

Je l'ai fait = you've finished it all, the whole task is done. J'en ai fait = short for "I did some exercises" I'm not sure "est-ce que tu fais ton duolingo?" is a good question, it mean "are you doing your duolingo (right now)?". She probably asked "est-ce que tu AS fais ton duolingo?".

I'd say 'J'en ai fait' to mean 'I did some.' 'En' is used in many situations, and certainly not just for food and such items. 'Je l'ai fait' would mean 'I did it'. You'd answer this if someone said, for example 'Tu as fait le ménage?' (housework) and you wanted to say 'Yes, I did it' in the sense of having completed a job.
