This is a good question because it is a bit misleading for learners. In that example you can use both without changes in the meaning. A native Spanish speaker would ask that using both indistinctly and would understand you just as well. However for the following example you can only use "han querido": "Ellos siempre HAN QUERIDO hacer eso en Navidad", talking about an activity they have always wanted to do in Christmas. Hola In México its very unusual "hayan", we use it in very specific situations. The second it´s more familiar for me. This are Present Perfect sentences: - ¿Hay algo que siempre han querido hacer en estas fechas? - Siempre he querido ir a la playa. - Nunca he nadado en un rio. - Ella nunca ha sido feliz con su trabajo. And the 'subjuntivo' mode is like this: - Espero que haya ganado la competencia. - El que haya ido hasta alla fue mala idea. - No siento que haya sido tan grave. 'Subjuntivo' mode is more like an specific way to say something, and it has a very irregular form and it´s not that common. When i read both sentences, it sounds better the second. :)
