Mist is like a light rain, you get wet by walking through it. Fog is just condensation, you don't get wet in the fog.

Fog refers specially to something that obstructs your vision. Mist is usually translucent.

There is practically no difference. You could ask a dozen well-educated native speakers and most of them would say "Hmmm.... I'm not sure. Is there a difference? Well, maybe..." This is the situation that sends a native speaker to the dictionary. I think you will find that the _more_ advanced a native speaker is, the _more_ often they use a dictionary. https://ahdictionary.com/word/search.html?q=mist "Mist: A mass of fine droplets of water in the atmosphere near or in contact with the earth." https://ahdictionary.com/word/search.html?q=fog "Fog: Condensed water vapor in cloudlike masses lying close to the ground and limiting visibility." I would say that we say "mist" to emphasize that it is wet or damp. We say "fog" to emphasize that it is blocking our vision.

Fog and mist are essentially the same as both are water droplets in the atmosphere. However fog is thicker than mist and visibility is reduced more in fog, than in mist.
