Añadir vs. Agregar Hello, What is the difference between añadir and agregar? Both mean add, but I’m sure there is a slight difference. Thanks!

Hi! With "añadir" you can say: "I'm going to add an apple to my cart" (voy a añadir una manzana a mi cesta de compra). "Agregar" you will use in the context of a facebook request, for example: "I'm going to add my new friend on facebook" (voy a agregar a mi nuevo amigo en facebook). In a way "añadir" is adding quantity to something or to incorporate something into something else, whereas "agregar" is adding but also accepting something new is happening in the process. Hope that helps!

¡Hola Pia!

Saludos

agregar -> add: include añadir -> add: put in Both of them are considered synonyms also with: "incorporar" or "sumar". But the small difference is that "añadir" is to put in something and "agregar" is to include something to something that it was already said, wrote, done or exists. Hope I helped... Hi Pia, in my opinion there is no difference between those words, you can use them indistinctly. They're synonymous.
