A friend wrote to me "me faltabas tú" and it looks to me like, "You needed me." But it didn't make sense, seemed backwards in the context of the sentence. Seems like she should be saying, "I needed you." If that's so, why the "s" in faltabas? Ayudame, por favor!

"me faltabas tú" means that you weren't with her/him at that moment and she/he missed you. But in spanish the subject of the verb "faltar" is always the person or thing that is missed, as she/he said: "you were missed", but meaning that she/he felt your absence : "tú me faltabas (a mí)".

También, tú puedes decir " te nesecito"=I need you o "te nesecitaba" = I needed you

it can be translated as : I was missing you.
