Religiously watching. In some book I've just read "He'd watched the Dyloft Web site religiously"(there was nothing of religious.Just a stock market website).Instantly,I come to think I'm right now watching 'italki' religiously.=) Lots of thrills! However, I'm not quite sure if I understand the word religiously in this context? Please, could you name the other picturesque words with a close meaning? Thank you very much.@Martin.Thanks for answering.Yes.Picturesque means attractive in appearance and second meaning is strikingly expessive. Like "Picturesque language/words".But I asked about the other things. For instance, how do you think? The word "pious" would fit the picture?

In this case it means he watched it so much that watching it was like a religion for him, hence he watched it religiously. You could also say he watched it habitually or consistently.

Let me have a guess... to watch something religiously - does it mean to watch something with an almost religous zeal? "picturesque" comes from French "pittoresque" and means something which is worth to be painted. Even poverty can be perceived as picturesque sometimes, however some people would decry this as a decadent view. Wikipedia translates it into Russian as "Живописный".
