"Jesus to a child" - what that expression means? It's one of my favorite songs by George Michael. I was always wondering what its name means? In case of using brute translate it can be translated as "Иисус для ребенка" but this expression is meanless, atleast for me. Or it's realy can be translated only that way? Unfortunately it is the whole sentence. Its a name of song: George Michael - Jesus to a child. http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/jesus-to-a-child-lyrics-george-michael/87b13dcaafd459704825686200155365 Like Jesus to a child - this is seems to be a key expressino in song, that linked to song name. But i still dont understand why it called so? Why not to call it "Like Jesus to a child"? Or its named so just for beauty?

The title is part of a refrain in the song. The whole sentence is, "You smiled at me like Jesus to a child." It's probably referring to a story in the New Testament (Mark 10:13) in which Jesus welcomed children to receive his blessing. The song is comparing your smile to the comfort and security that a child might have felt in that event.

you need to show the whole sentence. it's possible it could mean "(says/said) to a child". but we must see the full sentence.

i agree with richard- it probably refers to the care, warmth and kindness given by jesus when he greeted and blessed the children after entering the city.
