Hi, I’m Makiko. I'm a qualified, passionate Japanese teacher and have been teaching Japanese for more than 13 years in Melbourne, Australia. I grew up in rural Shizuoka and I swam in the river every Summer. I used to work as a graphic designer at an advertising company in Tokyo. It means I can provide super high quality materials for my students. I love making people laugh and I'm a great listener. I’m interested in art, cooking, movies, music(from various countries), cultures and I love dogs. I’ve been to the U.S.A, Spain, France, Turkey, Netherlands, Hong Kong and I lived in the UK for 2 years. Every country was incredibly wonderful. It would be nice to visit your country one day!지도 경험
I'm very proud of my students for improving their Japanese so much. This makes it difficult for me to stop being a Japanese teacher.
I'm a caring & supportive teacher. I’ve taught Japanese to hundreds of students in both group and private lessons at school & online, all ages, and high school students (The Victorian Certificate of Education in Australia). I also have a lot of experience in preparing students for JLPT exams.
I always provide a comfortable and encouraging environment in my class. I adapt to the pace of progress of the students.내 강의 및 지도 스타일

I encourage students to reach their goals while providing a relaxed atmosphere in the lessons. I believe talking is the most important way to get to know other people and culture, so I focus on being able to communicate while building grammar. I can support you in English, if you need.

Makiko is doing a great job of preparing us for taking the JLPT N5 exam. She has given us a ton of useful practice, and is always so patient with us while we learn and study. She is a wonderful teacher!

I have been meeting regularly with Makiko sensei for about a year and I whole heartedly recommend her to anyone wanting to learn or brush up on their Japanese. She always brings a very fun approach to every lesson and, in a uniquely kind/firm manner, corrects my mistakes to ensure that I am absorbing the info as efficiently as possible. I definitely plan to continue taking lessons with Makiko sensei and it would be remiss to pass up the opportunity of having Makiko sensei as a teacher.

For anyone interested in learning Japanese I highly recommend Makiko-sensei. I had been studying the Genki 1 book on my own for several months but wasn't really sure what kind of progress I was making. I scheduled a trial lesson with Makiko-sensei and feel so lucky and fortunate to have found her as my teacher. Ever since the trial lesson I've been taking classes once a week for a few months now and the hour session is always a highlight of my week that I look forward to. Makiko-sensei is a compassionate and patient teacher that makes learning enjoyable while always ensuring you actually learn the material. I constantly have questions and stumble over previously taught subjects but she always takes the time to review with me with a smile on her face. I'll soon be upping to 2-3 times a week because I enjoy learning from Makiko-sensei so much. I've always had a dream of learning the Japanese language and with the guidance of Makiko-sensei I believe I can make that dream a reality.

Makiko is a perfect teacher! Each lesson I really enjoy and find myself learning more and more from her. She provides so much good feedback and helps me in so many small ways from pitch, tone, pronunciation, etc. She's been my favorite teacher for a while, and I think she's amazing to learn from. Highly recommended!
