I often say similar things about my lessons with Carolina, because they're consistently true. She works me hard. I feel like my brain is getting a workout. We pick difficult material and it's slow going, but I'm learning steadily. I'm learning about the legal system in Colombia and the standards of evidence, and I'm not involved in police or legal work--these are simply topics that have caught my interest in looking at other aspects of Colombian social life. Wherever you are in your studies of Spanish, Carolina can take you higher, at whatever pace you're ready for.

I'm celebrating today because, after 5 years of learning Spanish, I am finally able to read a book intended for adults, in this case a PhD thesis in book form. It's bittersweet because Carolina and I are one page away from finishing a series of 90 readings, a process that has taken 14 months. She knew this series would get me past my limitations long before I did. I suspect I'm a slow student, but the important details are that I got here, and that she knew what to do--as she always does.

Carolina has always been exemplary in every way. She maintains the highest professional standards, and always has excellent resources for what I need to learn next. We have worked on some long-term projects, lasting many months or more than a year, and are nearing completion on another one. I value her clear vision and knowledge of the steps required to learn another language to proficiency.
