Hi! My name is Thomas. I'm 26 years old. I'm fascinated by language and culture. In my free time I love to read, write and cook!지도 경험
I've been teaching Dutch on Italki for more than 1,5 years. Before that I've taught Dutch to refugees. I know how it is to learn a new language myself! I use my experience as a language student as a teacher.
- I teach beginner levels. You could take classes with me as an addition to your group course or self study. Or we can start learning Dutch from scratch together using a method or book that you choose or I recommend.
- I can help with exam preparation. I have experience in helping students prepare for the inburgeringsexamens and other exams.
- I teach intermediate and advanced levels. Together we can broaden and/or perfect your Dutch for either professional or personal reasons.내 강의 및 지도 스타일
I give interactive classes in which we speak as much Dutch as possible. I'm inspired by immersive teaching methods. I approach the Dutch language as a living and spoken language embedded in the Dutch culture(s).
I use material that represents Dutch culture in all its diversity (popular music, television shows, youtube video's, literature, cinema, etc.)
I create a personal shared file for all my students in which I save all new things (words, phrases, grammar rules, exercises) that came up during our classes. I make a recording of new words and phrases with examples of how to use them in sentences.내 수업 자료

Thomas is great! he is extremely flexible and attentive. he is creative in finding different explanations to something that I am not able to understand. in such a short time (20h in 5 weeks) I learned a lot for my exams. I am very happy with this learning method.

I have had a number of teachers over the past couple of years, and Thomas by far is my favorite teacher.
He is calm, approachable, patient, listens well, knows when to interrupt to correct me and when to let me talk to experience a certain flow of thought. Every class, he writes down every word that I didn’t know, and he sends them in an audio recording with examples after class. This way, I find myself expanding my vocabulary with words that I would be inclined to use in real life.
Thanks to him, I am finally pretty excited about the content that I am learning, he takes time to pick things that would really make you tick. In a couple of months, I finally feel immersed in Dutch culture/politics with an angle that I would have never been able to access if I was navigating those topics on my own.
