I recently took Ako-Sensei's new "Drills, Drills, Drills" class and I highly recommend it for anyone who needs to iron out any of their weak points. Before the lesson, I gave Sensei a list of the topics I have been struggling with and she made a custom lesson for me to brush up on them and make the points stick. You'll be talking a lot if you take this class, so make sure to take plenty of water! Thank You for the lesson Ako-Sensei!

I took lessons with Sakura Yoko sensei to prepare for my trip to Japan. She listened very well to my needs, and adjusted accordingly. She also was very good at teaching and speaking Japanese at exactly the level that I needed. I really loved that she would actively correct me where I made a mistake and teach me how to say it in natural Japanese. For every lesson we agreed together on the topic beforehand, and she would always come prepared with a conversation and a scenario, from a dialogue to videos to use as a visual aid. Something else that was very helpful was that she would make notes during the lesson of words, phrases and grammar points and send those to me afterwards to study. I had a great time studying with her, and I feel much better prepared for me trip. I´m very thankful for the lessons and believe she went above and beyond so I could get the most out of it!

Aika-sensei is an excellent teacher who is kind, encouraging, and patient. During our conversations, she asks questions that are at the right level to push me to improve and attempt to more challenging sentences, while keeping the conversation comfortable and enjoyable. My Japanese speaking ability has drastically improved since taking lessons with Aika-sensei. I would highly recommend her lessons!

Highly recommend if you are an intermediate Japanese learner looking to speak more Japanese. We casually talk during the lesson and Hide creates your study materials based on what you talk about during the lesson. You end up learning a lot about what you would normally talk about in conversations in your native language and it feels personalized.

Tomoko sensei is a very patient teacher. She always tries to understand what I mean first, and only then gives the right correction, so I never feel cut off mid-sentence. In our lessons she guided me through a full presentation in Japanese, and kept asking follow-up questions so the conversation never stalled. Highly recommended for anyone who needs Japanese for work.

I highly recommend Hina Sensei for anyone who is looking to seriously improve their language skills, whether through the JLPT or otherwise. Thanks to Hina Sensei’s well structured lessons and thoughtful feedback, I’ve been able to make more progress than I thought possible. As a person who best learns by doing, I can read textbook explanations and examples all day and not truly understand. But Hina Sensei’s lessons always make me directly engage with the material right away and I learn so much faster this way. Hina Sensei also has tons of in-depth knowledge of the JLPT and learning and putting her strategies into action is really helping me improve. I know this test is a big challenge for me but with Hina Sensei’s guidance I think I’ve got a chance 😊

We went through more reading strategies today. It was really hopeful to know how to read faster for different types of questions. Chieko’s lesson is always very structured where we go through the theory before diving into the practical and wrapping up with a summary. She’s also very encouraging despite me not being 100% sure and guessing answers which makes me feel at ease. When there is a word I don’t know she also encourages me think what it means as there are probably plenty of words in the JLPT that I won’t know.

Dear Hana Sensei, It has been a true honor and privilege to take lessons with Hana sensei. She has gotten me more in touch with my Japanese cultural heritage dating back to when my Japanese grandfather first journeyed from Hiroshima to California in 1900. She has been my inspiration to learn Japanese at a higher level continue my learning journey. Currently, I have taken more than 105 weekly lessons. During these lessons, I have learned about Japanese culture, customs, daily life, and how to communicate in Japanese! I have enjoyed my lessons so much that I am striving to one day take the JLPT examination, a comprehensive Japanese language proficiency test. Lessons with Anri先生 are very good. She is always prepared and never late to our classes. I often feel encouraged to try my best and speak even if I am not sure if I am correct. In case of any mistakes, the are explained in understandable way. The atmosphere is also very friendly. I really enjoy our lessons, I feel motivated to continue my learning and I can see my level raising from lesson to lesson. Highly recommended!
