I currently teach Japanese to learners of all levels, from beginners to advanced. I also support students preparing for the JLPT! In Japan, I worked as a registered nurse for five years, where I developed strong communication and teaching skills through mentoring junior staff. Although I do not have formal experience in an educational institution, I have hands-on, practical teaching experience. I am also learning English myself, so I fully understand the challenges, frustrations, and joys of learning a new language. Because of this, I always aim to create a safe, supportive environment where students feel comfortable speaking and asking questions.

To learn a new language should be a lot of fun, a source of joy and good time, however many people try and get frustrated. We all can learn as many languages as we want, but we should learn in natural way, like any child learns his mother tongue. As adults we frequently try to learn a new language in ways that are just not conductive. Dry repetition and memorization don’t help. A language is much more than words, a new language is like a new life. Japanese is a fascinating language of a fascinating country. I love to teach Japanese and about our food, our order and good manners, the anime and manga and many other fantastic oddities that exist only in Japan.
