Certified Japanese Language Teacher with over 15 years of experience I studied the history of philosophy, which led me to develop interests in a wide variety of topics. Besides grammar and language learning, I especially enjoy discussing 17th-century philosophy, Descartes, Aristotle, Leibniz, Kant, medicinal cannibalism, the philosophy of witchcraft, Haitian zombies (anthropology), Ninja Science, and Yōkai phenomena in early modern Japan. I also enjoy conversations about movies, anime, books, politics, and history in general. Teaching has always been one of my passions. My first part-time job after high school was teaching English at a cram school, and since then I have loved learning together with students through curiosity, discussion, and discovery. I am currently studying to become a university professor/researcher, so teaching is closely connected to both my academic interests and long-term career goals. I often find that I learn as much from my students as they learn from me. My teaching style is best described as a semi-formal university lecture combined with relaxed conversation. Lessons are customized for each student, and we can explore topics that naturally improve grammar, vocabulary, and conversational ability through meaningful discussion. I primarily teach in English and focus especially on beginner to intermediate learners of Japanese. Students are also welcome to record lessons for personal review.
