こんにちは～！マルハバ！サウジの日本語の先生、佳子です＾＾
みなさんー！元気ですかー？私は元気ですよー！
今日は「サウジのクリスマス」について話します。
サウジアラビアのクリスマスってどうなの？って思っている人も多いと思います。
私はサウジに来て2回目のクリスマスシーズンを過ごします。個人的な感想を言うと、私はサウジで3番目か4番目くらいに大きな州に住んでいますが、クリスマス感はあまりないです。日本ではクリスマスイルミネーションやクリスマスツリーをよく見かけますし、ほとんどのお店がクリスマスのデコレーションをしている感じですね。
幼稚園や会社などでクリスマスパーティーがあったり、小さな子供がいる家庭ではだいたいクリスマスを家族で祝うと思います。大人の場合は、クリスマスに家族や友達、パートナーと何かしよう！と頑張って予定をたてます。
多くのサウジ人にとってはクリスマスは普通の日。休みではないし、クリスマスだからと言ってケーキやプレゼントを買うこともありません。しかし、サウジにはたくさんの外国人がいます。その外国人を中心に、近年、クリスマス文化が広まりつつあります。外国人向けのお店やローカルの店でもクリスマスグッズを売っていたり、高級ホテルではクリスマス限定メニューもあるそうです。恐らく首都のリヤドではクリスマスツリーなどを見かけると思います。
1年前にサウジに引っ越してきたときは、5歳の息子もクリスマスのことを覚えていて、「ケーキ食べたい」と言ったので、ケーキを食べて少し祝いました。今年はまだ何も言っていないので、多くのサウジ人と同様、普通にクリスマスを過ごしたいと思います。
みなさんは、どのようにクリスマスを過ごしますか？
