“For years now, I've dreamed about taking an adventure in Vietnam, and I feel like I’m finally ready to take the plunge! I would be super excited to explore the lush jungles, cruise the bustling cities, and experience the unique culture of this vibrant country.

I’d definitely want to go on this adventure with my best buddy John, as he’s also really into travel and adventure, as well as always up for anything.

I would really like to get out and experience all that Vietnam has to offer. I would love to be able to climb the incredibly beautiful limestone cliffs of Halong Bay, which I’ve seen on a few different documentaries, and is on the top of my bucket list. 

Another adventurous thing I’d really want to try would be scuba diving in the gorgeous coral reefs, as well as relaxing on some of the stunning beaches. I'm sure I would also be able to enjoy some amazing local food, and maybe even take a few cooking classes. As well as that, I’d also love to learn more about the fascinating history of the country.

I guess I would be a little nervous about the whole trip, but I’d also be very eager to get out there and explore. I'm sure there would be some bumps along the way, but hey, that would be all part of the adventure. I'm always ready to step out of my comfort zone and embrace the unknown.

I'm so looking forward to having an epic adventure in Vietnam one of these days, and I'm sure it would be an incredible experience and I’d have so many wonderful stories to share with everyone back home. I'm sure it won't be long before I'm actually packing my bags and hitting the road!

おはようございます。日本語だんたんポットキャストのゆかりです。

突然(とつぜん)ですが、

みなさんは、自分(じぶん)のことを

日本語でなんと言っていますか？

たとえば、私(わたし)、
ぼく、おれ、などがありますね。

どの言葉(ことば)を使うかによって、イメージがちがいます。

今週(こんしゅう)は、
そんな話をしようと思います。

今日は、私が自分のことをなんと言うか、
お話しますね。

まず、いまは、私は【私】を使います。

でも、こどものときは、ちがいました。

小さいころ‥

たぶん、小学生のはじめのことは、自分のことを名前(なまえ)で言っていました。

しかも"ちゃん"付けで‥ふふ。

たとえば、お母さんに、

「ゆかりちゃん、いまからセーラームーンをみるね。」

とか、

「まだ、おなかすいてないから、
ゆかりちゃんのごはんはいらない。」

とか。

いま、自分で言っていて、めっちゃはずかしいです。

昔(むかし)の話ですよ！

そのあと、私は自分の名前から、
【ウチ】にかわりました。

これは、関西(かんさい)の人がよくつかうかな？

たとえば、学校の友達(ともだち)に、

「あ、今日ウチ、アルバイトあるから、早めに帰るね。」

などと、言っていました。

ただ、これは友達との会話(かいわ)です。

先生や大人の人と話すときは、
"私(わたし)"と言うようになりました。

そして、会社で働くようになってから、
もうひとつ、言い方がふえました。

それは、【私(わたくし)】です。

漢字(かんじ)は私と同じですね。

私(わたくし)は、お客様と話すときに使いました。

たとえば、

"はい、私(わたくし)が、お持ちします。
お席(せき)でお待ちください。"

と言います。

さて、どうでしょうか？

自分のことを名前で言う、
ウチ、私、私(わたくし)などと、
変わってきましたね。

イメージは伝わりましたか？

次回は、【ぼく】と【おれ】について、お話します。

excited to see the city!
SOPHIE: Good for you! Traveling is so much fun. I love 
discovering new places and new people. When 
are you leaving?
JULIE: Next week. I’m taking the red eye. It was cheaper. 
Hopefully, I’ll be able to sleep on the plane.
SOPHIE: I wish I could go with you! New York City is a magical 
place. You will have so much fun.
JULIE: I hope so. I’m going to visit my brother who lives 
there. I will stay for a week and then take the train 
down to Washington, D.C.
SOPHIE: That sounds like a great vacation. I’m looking 
forward to a week at the beach for my summer 
vacation. I just want to relax.


LANGUAGE NOTES
• Ticket can refer to many different types of transportation (metro, bus, train, plane, etc.). 
In general, you can guess the means of transportation by the context.
• When discussing airplane travel, a red eye is a flight that leaves at night to arrive early 
the next morning. This is in reference to how red your eyes become when you don’t get 
a full night’s sleep

昨日録音できなかったので、今日2つ録音しています。

今日はとても、に似た表現について。
英語を勉強していると、1つの意味でもいろんな表現や言い方がありますね。

例えば、
very
so
extremely 
awfully 
really 
terrible 
pretty 

など、ありますね。あってますかね。

日本語の同じような表現でとても、という言葉がありますので、これに似た表現を紹介します！

とても
　ー彼はとても頭がいい。
すごく
　ー今日はすごく忙しい日です。
たいへん
　ー電車は大変混雑しています。
非常に
　ー非常に難しい状況です。
本当に
　ー本当に感謝しています。
おおいに
　ーおおいに楽しんでください。
すこぶる
　ーすこぶる調子がいい。

関西弁だと、
めっちゃ
　ーめっちゃ暑いやん！
ほんまに
　ーほんまに忙しいわー。
えらい
　ーえらい多い人やな。

とか言いますね。

いろんな言葉をうまく使うと、日本語の表現の幅が広がります。ぜひ、いろいろと使って話す練習をしてみてくださいね！
