おはようございます。日本語だんだんPodcastのゆかりです。
私はいま、シンガポールにいます。

シンガポールははじめてです。

いろいろなことに、おどろいています。

例えば、駅(えき)のポスターに
こう書いてありました。

"食べること、飲むことは禁止(きんし)。"

禁止とは、してはいけないことです。

シンガポールでは、電車やバスで、

食べること、飲むこと、は禁止です。

罰金(ばっきん)があります。

罰金とは、お金をはらうことです。

電車やバスでお水を飲むと‥

シンガポールドルで500ドル、はらわなくてはいけません。

日本円だと、50,000円(ごまんえん)です。

アメリカドルだと、＄360です。

びっくりですね。気をつけます！


みなさんの国(くに)では、どうでしょうか？

日本では、ふつうの電車やバスで、
食べることは、あんまり良くないです。

飲むことは、大丈夫(だいじょうぶ)です。

あ、新幹線(しんかんせん)は食べること、飲むこと、どちらも大丈夫です。

でも、普通のバスや電車はあんまり良くないです。

禁止ではありませんが、
マナーとして、あまりしません。

シンガポールでは禁止なので、
みんなにわかりやすいですね。

あいまいなルールよりも、
いいなぁと思います。

A mi perro Curro le gusta pasear por el parque a primera hora de la mañana.

Me levanto a las seis de la mañana en los días laborables para acompañarle al parque antes de ir a trabajar. Siempre me espera sentado en la puerta de mi habitación con gran impaciencia, aguardando a que me levante.

Cuando llegamos al parque acostumbro a quitarle la correa para que pueda correr libremente, ya que a esas horas no hay nadie a quien pueda molestar. Él se pone muy contento y durante un rato se dedica a explorar el parque con gran curiosidad.

Transcurrido un cuarto de hora regresa al banco donde yo lo aguardo sentado y entonces jugamos un rato con la pelota, yo se la lanzo y él me la devuelve. Después regresamos a casa y yo marcho a trabajar y él se queda feliz tumbado en su colchón.

Hello. This is episode 2 of Season 3 of my podcast. I received my gold credit card last week. In Japan, the social standing of freelancers is generally low, but I’ve noticed that if you keep at it, your credit score will go up. It’s all thanks to you, my students and listeners. Rest assured, I’m going to keep providing content for you.

前回はパソコンを買い替える話をしました。今日、新しいパソコンを注文しました。私が注文したのはM1チップのMacBook Airです。M1モデルを選んだ理由は2つあります。一つ目の理由はノッチです。M2モデルには画面にノッチがついています。ノッチとはカメラの周りの黒い部分のことです。私はよくメニューバーの真ん中を使うので、ノッチが邪魔に感じました。二つ目の理由は、今年の3月にM3モデルが発売するという噂があったからです。M3モデルが発売したら、M1モデルはなくなってしまうかもしれません。また3月に私が今使っている2017年製のMacBookのサポートが終了します。サポートが終了したら、売る時の値段が安くなってしまうかもしれません。

Last time I talked about replacing my computer. Today I actually ordered a new computer. I ordered the MacBook Air with the M1 chip. I chose the M1 model for two reasons. The first reason is the notch. The notch is the black area around the camera. I often use the middle of the menu bar, so I found the notch annoying. The second reason is that there was a rumour that the M3 model would be released in March of this year. If the M3 model is released, the M1 model may disappear. In addition, support for my current 2017 MacBook is due to end in March. Once this happens, the resale value might fall.

しかし、M1モデルは2020年発売なので、スペックが充分かどうか不安でした。そこでパソコンに詳しい生徒さんたちからアドバイスをもらって、ユニファイドメモリを16GBにアップグレードしました。私は今大学生なので学割が使えるし、キャンペーンのギフトカードがもらえたので、合計で41800円安くなりました。今使っている2017年製のMacBookの下取りを合わせると、あと1万円ぐらい安くなるかもしれません。下取りとは、新しい物を買うときに、同時に古い物を同じ店に売って、割引を受けることです。とてもいい買い物でした。届くのが楽しみです。

Welcome back to another episode of Streetwise English podcast. My name is Carl. Today I want to talk about breaking the ice. So breaking the ice means meeting someone new that you don't know for the first time. So when you go to a party or you go to a new workplace or a new school, you're always going to have the occasion where you need to meet people for the very first time.


And sometimes this can be awkward and you can feel embarrassed about talking to someone if you don't know them and they don't know you and you're not friends yet. So I just wanted to talk really briefly about some advice that I have for you to meet people for the first time in any environment. And this is especially true if you are not a native speaker of their language.


So the first tip I have is to simply smile. Make your face look friendly and welcoming and give eye contact to the person that you want to talk to. It sounds really simple and obvious, but if you missed this step um, you know, this is a very important step and this is half the battle. So make sure that you look approachable yourself and you smile And you might even make a slight hand gesture, like, uh, a mini wave of some sort.  And the next thing is to simply say hello.


You don't have to come up with any kind of clever saying or pick up line or joke just simply saying hello. And you can see if the other person is interested in having a conversation with you.


And another tip is that you can be observant of what the person looks like or what clothes they're wearing and use that as a clue um, to tell you about who they are. For example, if the person is wearing very nice running shoes you kind of have the idea that this person likes to run or this person may be a runner or if you notice that the person has, um, cauliflower ears, you know, scarred ears from wrestling OK, this guy is probably a fighter.
