Teamwork and collaboration are two of the most important topics in Business English. Today let's listen to some vocabulary, grammar, phrases, idioms and ideas for speaking about this in English. As an international professional you are always collaborating with colleagues from around the world, working together to complete projects and deliver great work. Learning and understanding how we can work together better, build better teams, and have better relationships with our team mates is key to being the best professional possible. For non-native English speakers, and people who speak English as a 2nd language, (second language speakers), working in teams can be challenging. Listening to what your colleagues have to say, and also expressing your own ideas, making as few mistakes as possible, and creating great sentences can be a challenge that many people find really difficult.

In this podcast we're going to be listening to several tips for improving your teamwork and collaboration skills, we'll look at the vocabulary and business English that can really help us to use those tips, then at the end we'll have a short quiz to see how much of what we talk about you can remember.

Teamwork and how to work better with your colleagues!

C’era una volta un lupo, magro e affamato: erano diversi giorni che non trovava nulla da mettere sotto i denti. Un sera, passò davanti al cortile di una casa e vide un cane. Era un bel cane grassottello.  “Come mai sei così grassottello? Dove trovi tanto da mangiare?” chiese il lupo al cane.
“Il mio padrone è un brav’uomo: riempie la mia ciotola ogni giorno” gli rispose l’altro. 
Il lupo, però, si accorse che la pelliccia del cane, sul collo, era tutta rovinata.
“Cos’hai fatto al collo?” gli domandò. “E’ il collare: il mio padrone me lo mette di giorno, quando mi lega alla catena. La notte, invece, mi libera, così faccio la guardia”. Il lupo si allontanò e tornò nel bosco: preferisco mille volte andare dove voglio che avere la pancia piena ma vivere alla catena.

Morale della favola: la libertà non ha prezzo.

I was educated at Eton College, England and studied
Oriental languages at Cambridge University. As well
as Cantonese, Mandarin and Japanese I speak
French, German and Italian fluently.
I believe the world is heading for disaster if we do
not act fast to save it. In my opinion, the most
important work of all is the safety and security of the world and especially the protection of
our children. However, although a pacifist at heart, I am able to assassinate quickly and
quietly, if needed.
I have served as a British Intelligence Officer since 1998 and have been living and working in
many dangerous environments around the world.
I trained with the Special Boat Service in the UK. As a commando I have served in Iraq,
Afghanistan, and Bosnia where I saved 100 men single-handedly. I also served with the
Special Forces in Indonesia, China and North Korea.
I am fully computer literate and can multi-task, completing many tasks simultaneously. I am
skilled with all types of weapons including machine guns, sub-machine guns, sniper rifles
and pistols. Furthermore, I am an expert in all kinds of martial arts including Judo, Jujitsu
and Kung Fu. In addition, I am a qualified pilot. I can also drive cars and motorbikes very
fast.
In my spare time I enjoy running, swimming, diving, sky diving, skiing, jet skiing and rock
climbing. I also enjoy playing poker.
