Hi, I'm struggling to translate ' poner un parte " which in Spain consists of the following: If a student does something really bad at school like offending the teacher, behaving in a disruptive way etc, teachers write it down on a piece of paper that will be sent to the student's parents. If several are written, the student could be expelled for some days. It is more serious than things that require just telling them off in class.( Is 'tell off ' the correct verb here) ??? Could anyone tell me how to put it in English? Thank you very much indeed

You would write up the student or more formally issue a disciplinary notice to the student's parents if they engage in more serious misconduct such as violence, bullying, cheating, etc. You could also mete out milder punishments, such as time-outs, loss of privileges, and community service. In addition to telling off, the expression "call someone up on something" is another option." For example, The teacher called the student up on constantly making noise in the class.

Hi Emar! If you’re looking for the word that refers to when a student is not allowed to attend school for a short time (for example, a couple of days) because of bad behavior, the verb is “to suspend” or “to be suspended.” I hope this helps!
