There's rules, there's people.. Are those correct? I've seen those phrases in different situations but I don't understand why it is "there is instead of there are. Thanks for your help đŸ€Ș

it’s TOTALLY incorrect BUT, we americans say things incorrectly all the time. you’re right, it should be “there are” but A LOT of people (especially in The South) say “there’s” when referring to plural things.

In speaking and in some informal writing, English will use “there’s” even when it refers to more than one; even though this would be incorrect in formal writing or in an examination. Basically, it’s a colloquialism.
