The typhoon Yagi came and gone, left behind severe floods which is much worse than the storm about the loss it has caused. The rain is less heavier and the flood is lower now. I hope it will keep better and better until the flood is gone so the people will be safe.

Typhoon Yagi has come and gone now, but in its path it left lingering floods that did more damage than the storm itself. By now, the rain and the flooding have diminished. I hope this favorable trend continues until the water is gone and the people are safe. We have storms here too. So far this year, we have been lucky. We had one big one, Hurricane Debby [note: we say "Hurricane Debby", not "The Hurricane Debby"]. Near where I live we had flooding, but no big winds.

couple of sugestions
rain is less heavier - downpour has eased down / keep better - get better (keep -cause to continue in a specified condition, position, course, etc)

I hope the floods there recede (go down) soon, I know they can be devastating.
