I saw a video explaining how to use the phrasal verb : write off but I could not figure out how to use it. It is the first time in weeks that I could not understand smth. Do you see everything over there on the table in front of the table? I cant see with my glasses off. Do they all make sense and are they correct?

‘To write something off’ comes from finance but its figurative meaning is to declare that something or someone has failed. I was hoping that the new employee was going to work out but it’s time to write him off. (There’s no chance he’ll be able to succeed) He seems too short to play basketball, but don’t write him off. He’s an incredibly good shooter. A couple of months after COVID hit, I wrote off 2020 as far as traveling was concerned.

'Write off' is used to talk about financial matters. We don't use it much in conversational English though. 1) Do you see everything over there on the table in front of the table? = Can you see everything on the table? = Can you see what's in front of the table? (I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to say here. Are you asking them about what they can see on the table, or in front of the table? It can't really be both~) 2) I cant see with my glasses off. = I can't see without my glasses. (This sounds a bit more natural). Does that help?

Write off has two meanings: When talking about finances it means Cancel debt or when you are businesses owner you can often pay lower taxes if you use the thing you buy for running businesses. As a baker you can write off flower as a cost. When talking about ideas it means to dismiss something usually because it's impossible or not cost effective School decided to write off my plan for theater performance because of pandemic. I hope I'm right and helped you.
