I would go for 1C. Because Warble and Trill are very rare words - most native speakers won't even know what they mean. This alone, in my mind, is reason enough to say Falter is the far superior word here. It seems quite appropriate too, so I wouldn't worry about finding a better word, unless you have a specific meaning in mind that this word doesn't quite capture. I would say 2C is the more relevantly expressive word here, as far as I see. It best matches the tone of "crush" and "react" and "vigor" and "jumping" and "animated" and "happy" etc. 2A & 2B sound far more mechanical and rote - even potentially a bit tedius in the case of 2A and antagonistic in the case of 2B, which doesn't seem like a great fit here.
