Italian cartoons and other sources with easy language

Hello!

I have just started learning Italian and I wonder if you can advise me some italian children shows (available on youtube preferably)?

Also it would be nice to know which children tv shows/cartoons are those which are 'classical' and all children have watched them etc. so I can get a feeling of italian culture and something which all kids in Italy know about.

Thank you in advance!

Real italian cartoons are difficult to find because the majority of the cartoons shown in Italian TV are not produced locally. There are a fee, though. One of them is Pimpa, a red polka dotted dog.

Barbapapa is a French franchise but quite popular in Italy in the 1970's and the again at the end of the 1990's. In spite of the fact that it is not an Italian product, it has had an effect on Italian culture and language by creating words like "barbatrucco" from the phrase "Resta de stucco: è un barbatrucco".

There are a lot of cartoons you can look up for on youtube, unfortunately most of them are anime (japanese animation). I would say that the most influential ones are those of the 70's, 80's and 90's some of which are still being aired on TV nowadays. Some of the titles which come to my mind are "Dragon Ball" and "Sailor Moon". One of the anime which could give you a glimpse of the greek/roman mythology could be "Pollon".

If you were looking for something more recent I would suggest that you look for "Winx Club" which is an italian cartoon that became popular all over the world. It was created and produced by Iginio Straffi in co-production with Rai Fiction (Rai is one of the main TV channels in Italy).

Also, if you wanted to deepen your knowledge through Italian trashy/awkward tv shows for kids (and if you are brave enough) you could try watching "Melevisione". I used to watch this tv program when I was a young little boy and I enjoyed it a lot, not sure it can be much entertainment for an adult though!

Hope this helps, good luck with your journey in the language realm!

Regarding the most classical, I can tell you about the "children of the 80s" since I'm 40 :) and these are almost all of the ones sung by Cristina D'avena (she also starred in a children series "Licia dolce Licia", which it'ill be rather easy for you to follow in the dialogues), the most known italian singer of all times of cartoons theme songs, so:

I puffi (the "Smurfs" in English, very famous of course)

Memole (this mostly by girls)

Holly e Benji (this mostly by boys)

and many others that you can find here:

https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fivelandia_Story ;

the list under each "volume 1" "volume2" ect. The majority came from Japan.

You can look all these up on YouTube.

Watch also "Bum Bum Bam", the most famous children show.

Hope it helps, BUONA VISIONE!
