1. Bite the bullet Meaning: To face a difficult situation with courage. Example: "I was very nervous, and I didn’t want to do the English, but I decided to bite the bullet. In the end, it was actually really fun. 2. Barking up the wrong tree Meaning: to follow the wrong course of action because your beliefs or ideas about something are incorrect Example: "When the police suspected John of the robbery, they were barking up the wrong tree. John had an alibi and was nowhere near the crime scene. It was actually his neighbour who committed the crime. 3. The ball is in someone’s court Meaning: It’s someone’s turn to take action or make a decision. Example: "I’ve given the client a great offer. Now, the ball is in his court." 4. Break the ice Meaning: To initiate conversation in a social setting. Example: "At the beginning of the meeting, everyone was quiet and a bit nervous. To break the ice, the manager told a funny story about her first day at the company, which made everyone laugh and feel more comfortable." 5. Under the weather Meaning: Feeling ill or unwell. Example: "I’m feeling a bit under the weather today, so I’m going to stay home."
