In pop culture, you'll find gurl, grrl, things like that, which mean girl but have some extra meaning, like tough girl or cute girl. They are a kind of slang. There's also boi for boy, kind of cute, like what girlfriend would say I think. If you're into pop music from America, you'll find plenty of confusion like that. Usually if you speak the word phonetically, you'll see what they meant. Same goes for things like sk8r (skater, or skateboarder), l8r, some of which also comes from SMS style.Hopefully we won't find all these in the dictionary, though, language changes too fast as it is! The same kind of thing goes on in other countries, that's where I have some trouble, like French kids will shorten to "j pens k" or something like that when they want to write "je pense que." Good luck!
