The Japanese is or are?
Hello. Our teacher told us this sentence: The Japanese IS very friendly people. I think that instead IS should be ARE. Am I wrong please?
Hello!
You are completely right! You should use ARE! Teachers are also people, they sometimes make accidental mistakes! :)

The reason it is "are" is because "people" tells us "Japanese" is plural, but it doesn't have to be. We could say "The Japanese is...", for example when talking about food.
