the use of 好大家好！请帮我 with this character, most obvious meaning is that it is "good". but in my phrase book and the dictionaries i'm using, i've encountered a new way to use it and i don't really get the explanation. 把被子叠好 - Bǎ bèizi dié hǎo - fold the quilt 把信叠好- Bǎ xìn dié hǎo - fold the letter dictionary says "it is used after verbs to indicate finishing or finishing satisfactorily...and gives this examples 这件事他做不好 - Zhè jiàn shì tā zuò bùhǎo - he can't do the job well 我把他的病治好了 - Wǒ bǎ tā de bìng zhìhǎo le - i cured his illness i still don't get it, what is 好hǎo's purpose in these phrases?

“好” is used as adjective, verb and adv. 1. As a adjective, it means "good" or "easy"; 2. As a verb, it means "finishing"(做好)、“ready”(好了吗？); 3. As a adv.,followed by adjectives,it means "how +a. it is" ,"好黑的头发"

It means that the action was completed. For example, 我吃好了。It means I finished eating. The function is to show that the action was successful and reached the end.

Verbs like 做 and 治 on their own just mean an act. "好" is used to tell us the results of the act, meaning "successfully". 做 = do 治 = treat 做好 = do well 治好 = cure
