Kore, sore, and are are used to say "this, that, and that over there" by themselves. Like... "What is that?" However, if a noun follows "this, that, that over there," then you have to use kono, sono, and ano. Example "that cat" is "ano neko." This car... "kono kuruma" etc. Got it?

Kore wa watashi no kuruma desu. This is my car. Kono kuruma wa watashi no mono desu. This car is mine. Sore wa anata no kamera desu ka? Is that your camera? Sono kamera wa anatano mono desu ka? Is that camera yours?
