What do you think about the English grammar? As mentioned in my Notebook in italki. Recently I started my grammar learning for the second time (I have completed grammar learning several months before). But someone ask me to put the grammar away. And suggest me to practice the conversations are used in real life. As an English learner, I have no idea on how to estimate my studying process. Based my experience, after I studied the English grammar, I got more confidence on writings. So, my question is, do you think putting more energy on grammar learning is just time-wasting?

I think the point is this: Think of something you want to say... then work out in your mind how you think you should say it. Then check with your teacher or a grammar book or something to see if you were right. I don't think it makes any sense to start by reading grammar books.

I think learning English grammar is not time-wasting because it'll give you a lot of help in reading and writing.

When learning a language, grammar is certainly important if you want to communicate well, but it shouldn't be the sole focus. My suggestion would be to incorporate conversation with native English speakers into your study of English grammar. This will help give you an idea of your progress and help you to have fun in the process!
