Meaning of "neat" in conversation. When I was reading a dialog for English learner I noticed an incomprehensible usage of word "neat". Here is a section of dialog: ... B: Big John called and he's late too. A: Oh! Good! That means I can drive a bit slower and be safe. What a relief! B: When he called, Big John mentioned he's in need of a new assistant manager. Wouldn't that be *neat*? A: Are you being sarcastic? ... Big John is A and B's boss in dialog. I know neat has the similar meaning as tidy or clean, but what does B want to describe here? Thanks.

In this context neat would mean that is awesome, that's more casual lenguaje, the expression means something is wonderful, terrific, or cool. But can mean that the person doesn't care about what the other is saying, like "ok whatever". So I guess he is saying "Wouldn't that be awesome?"

Neat can also mean something strong (usually alcohol) that is 'undiluted' - as in 'people usually drink baijiu neat'.
