ALF TV Show I watch "ALF" in English with subs and I have watched first episode. I've got some questions: 1) ALF pursued a cat but the cat ran away. And then he said: "He is quick. I'll give him that!" What did he mean? What he wanted to give to the cat? :) 2) ALF said "So, the droid says to the 'cranble': "To tell you the truth, I'd feel better if she lived another 6 light years away!" Who or what is "cranble"? I can't find it in the dictionary. 3) "I wear a size 5. But nothing with feet in it!" What does it mean? 4) ALF said "Oh I've got a zillion of them (jokes). Here is another one you won't like." Why "won't" ? "Won't" is "will not". Why he said "Here is another one joke, which you will not like" ?

1. This means "The cat got away and I'm not happy about it, but I must admit that the cat is fast and compliment him on it." (What he is giving the cat is a compliment - it is implied) 2. The word cranble is making a reference to something that exists on ALF's world, but not on ours. It is used to illustrate the fact that unless you know something about a certain culture, jokes that are funny in that culture will not necessarily be funny in ours. 3. Don't give me children's pajamas (sleep wear). They have feet. 4. This is irony. ALF is admitting that his jokes aren't funny, but he likes telling them anyway.
