How to use "Monday blues" in a sentence? Hi friends, I would like to know how to use "Monday blues" in a sentence? I have written a few sentences below? Do they make sense? 1) I had Monday blues because it rained cats and dogs. 2) I am having Monday blues today because it's raining cats and dogs. Thanks in advance! Niwantha

Monday morning blues, is the most common and original full idiom. I believe it may have originated from A blues song. A Mississippi blues song from America, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zd3TpjWyVX0

Hey Niwantha! Yes, they both make sense and are good examples! It's not a very common expression though. It's more common to say "Sunday night blues" as people dread Monday! "I have Sunday night blues because of work tomorrow" for example.

Style-wise, it might be a good idea to avoid two metaphors in one sentence.
