How do you learn British accent? Does anyone have any tips on how can I learn to speak with British accent? I don't live in UK and no one speaks English around me. If you have any experience on learning this, please share your method. As much as I like to get a lesson with someone, English teachers I saw on italki don't specify teaching British accent. Thanks.

I would recommend regular listening to the BBC. Not everyone uses RP on the BBC but it gives a good grounding close to RP. The world service is easy to find but with all the others you may need to use other tools. Radio 4 is the chat programme. BBC is mainly kept to the UK, but you can access using some smart TVs or maybe radio.garden Radio.garden is a great tool but London (the big green dot in the middle of London) has something like 150 radio stations, so you have to page through the <05/31> on the bottom on the left hand side you should find BBC Radio4. Radio 4 Extra is a comedy channel and boring long stories channel but a lot of RP language. Radio 2 is middle of the road music with a far bit of chat. Radio 1 is young music with lots of accents (from the street) Radio 3 is classical with very little speech and 5 (sport) 6 (rock music) etc

Also, if you do a search for Native speaker + from the UK + in the "Skills" drop down menu: type "neutral" in the search box, then you will find teachers who refer to this aspect of their spoken English in their profile. A "neutral English" accent is usually the closest to what you think of as "BBC English" - also sometimes called RP English or "Queen's English". However you can hear all sorts of regional (or foreign) accents on the BBC now! - only the accents you hear are rarely very strong... Hope that helps!

Any teacher from the UK who teaches pronunciation will surely help you with your accent: Try doing a teacher search for teachers from the UK with the tag "pronunciation" and I'm sure you will find someone to help you. Listening to material in the target accent is also really important- try the British Council website http://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en and the the BBC language website http://www.bbc.co.uk/skillswise/topic-group/speaking-and-listening Both of these sites have great resources for improving your speaking and listening skills. Also, you might want to narrow it down a bit- which British accent do you want to learn? There is actually quite a bit of regional variation. Good luck!

Watching British news would help a lot. You will pick up the accent really fast. But you may also lose it very fast if you are not around anyone who talks with that accent.
