"honey" vs. "hunny" Hi, I read that "hunny" is a slang used only for one meaning of "honey" - dear, darling and so on, when we address a person. When "honey" means food we use only this form, not hunny. Is it correct? A few minutes ago I saw a tattoo of Winnie-the-Pooh with a knife and with the inscriprion "For Hunny!" I think it was a grammatical mistake, am i right? Thanks

Hello Anastasia, Hunny is a corruption of the word Honey. You referenced Winnie the Pooh, which is told from a child's point of view. Because of this, many of the words that appear in the books and movies are misspelled, including that sweet liquid. Some people think it's cute, so the practice of misspelling it has persisted in pop-culture. As you stated, "Honey" is a term of endearment, along with the lines of "Sweetie", because love is a sweet emotion. When some people write it, they write 'Hunny' to make it more cute or endearing, but the proper term is 'Honey'.

"Hunny" is a slang spelling of "honey." For the tattoo, honey is often misspelled in Pooh books because it is a child-like way of writing. The tattoo has double meaning then, because the person could be referencing the spelling found in the books as well as protecting a significant other. Slang spelling usually comes from trying to make the word more phonetic, give the word more specific meaning, or make the word funny. It springs from many places like gamer lingo and spoken accents. I personally love slang spelling because it allows for a way to give more meaning to written words and I can really imagine how the other person would sound in real life. Other slang spellings: boi - boy smol - small doge - dog babey - baby chile - child lawd - lord wit - with

honey is a common used word between two people who have deep relationship. For an example, if the son asked his parents for money. They usually says that, honey there is no money because you didn't complete your homework. Honestly, I don't know how English speakers write it down? idk if it's honey or hunny. All I know that honey or hunny whatever it is, is meaning lovely or spouse.
