What are the differences between "exam" and "examination"?

Exam is a shortened form of Examination. In everyday speech, "Exam" is more common, but I would say that "Examination" is more official. They mean the same thing though, and anyone would still understand perfectly

"Exam" and "examination" have the same meaning, Ken. They both mean "a test." "Exam" is just the shorten version of "examination." :)
