Hello! I’m Ryan Higgins, and I’m so glad you decided to check out my profile!
For the past 18 years, I’ve been lucky enough to live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world—Guilin, China. I moved here in 2007 without knowing any Chinese, but fast forward to today, and I have a wonderful family, a job I’m truly passionate about, and yes, I can speak Chinese.
In my spare time, I love spending time with my family, reading, hanging out with my daughter, and playing with our cat, Coco (she sometimes makes a cameo in our lessons!).

My passion for teaching stems from a love of language and culture, inspired by my high school friendships with exchange students. I was fascinated by their cultures and languages and tried, though largely unsuccessfully, to learn them all.
My methods are influenced by the groundbreaking work of Mike Long in Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) and backed by the latest research in Second Language Acquisition (SLA). Your Personalized Learning Plan will help you build confidence, fluency, and real-world skills, empowering you to thrive in business, education, and beyond.
