Namaste! I am Sanchita from Lucknow, a city in North India with a rich and colorful history and a beautiful, syncretic culture. I am a linguaphile, storyteller, ex-journo, and teacher with 15 years of experience in Hindi & English communication. I teach Hindi & English at all levels. I believe learning a language is like opening the door to a new, rich cultural experience. It can’t be complete without understanding the socio-cultural contexts in which a language has grown and evolved. I am currently learning several languages. I am also a published author. My short stories & articles have been published in Hindustan Times (newspaper), TES Orbit (magazine), Spark (online magazine).Ik als leerkracht
My journey as a teacher started with my job at the Institute for Career Studies in 2020. I trained Grade 10, 11 and 12 students to prepare for university entrance tests. I mentored them, helping them improve their communication skills and learn how to give their best in group discussions & interviews. Later, in June 2022, while still working at my full-time job, I joined the Duolingo Global Ambassador community as a teacher. I took classes during my free time and hosted regular sessions for attendees from Europe and the US – receiving a solid 5-star rating. The rich cultural exchange and global exposure that I gained in these classes, prompted me to make this my permanent vocation.Mijn lessen en manier van lesgeven
I like partnering with my students as a friend. My sessions are conducted in an environment of open & two-way communication, keeping in view the learning pace and convenience of each student. I encourage them to ask questions – not just about grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation or other aspects of the language, but also about India – its ancient heritage, cultural wealth, rich diversity, people, topography, history, and place in the modern world. I regularly seek feedback and suggestions from students to tweak my teaching style, if required, and customize the lesson plan to best suit their needs. It's when you get into the details of grammar that you can tell whether your teacher really knows their stuff and Sanchita always impresses me with her deep knowledge of Hindi grammar.

So glad to be back to my classes with Sanchita after (oh the shame!) 3 months! Really need to get back to Hindi and practice, reading, speaking...and Sanchita is very helpful with the transition, we did some comprehension, translations, revising grammar and dheere dheere, I will get back to it hopefully!
