Hello :)
My name is Neta. I´m an Israeli currently living in Portugal. I was born and raised in Jerusalem, where I got to know the diversity and the uniqueness of the city.
I studied literature at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and spent most of my twenties working in various book stores. I love literature and I love reading.
Education is another one of my intrests, one that led me to study Waldorf education.
I practice Yoga and mindfulness and I´m also learning Portuguese.
Ik als leerkracht
I have a passion for language - and the Hebrew language in particular - and that is what guides me.
I am very patient, so you can feel free taking your time asking questions, making mistakes and practicing.
I feel very fortunate to be able to help people on their path to learn Hebrew.
Mijn lessen en manier van lesgeven
I believe that a language is best learned through the holy trinity of listening, talking and reading, therefore I try to incorporate all three in every class. I like to start the lessons with a little chat and bring some reading metrial - be it an article, a piece of literature or a text book page.
My teaching style is very fluent and not rigid, and I prefer to adjust the content of the materials according to the student´s interests and preferations. It is important for me that the lessons will be interesting as well as didactic.

Neta is a wonderful teacher! She provides materials to enhance my Hebrew study and meticulously walks through each alphabetical/grammar point so that I understand it thoroughly. Very encouraging and patient as well. Thank you, Neta! :)

Another fine lesson with Neta. I have been noticing a sharp increase in my speaking capabilities within just a month just by finally getting speaking.
In this lesson we had some free talking at the beginning and then a reading exercise. I feel this is a good distribution of time as I don't have the level/energy to try to talk for 60 minutes in only Hebrew but by reading I still practice an aspect of Hebrew and learn something along the way.
I do not cover explicit grammar lessons like "now I will teach you the future tense" with Neta, but today we discussed the form of לרכוב vs. לרכב as marked by Pealim as being colloquial. It is useful that she is aware of the differences. Sometimes she says thing that strike me as being typical for native speakers trying to explain the rules behind their own language but which do not necessarily always work (as I would for Dutch in my own case). This may be good to pay attention to if you are looking for a grammar-heavy curriculum.

Another good lesson with Neta. We are starting to move into the realm of basic conversation. Neta speaks very slowly for me so that it is not overwhelming and gives me time to respond. I like that she does not jump in to correct me immediately after I make a mistake but instead waits until I finish my train of thought. It can be a bit awkward when I have to think of something for a long time but I think she doesn't mind and in general she is helpful with corrections.
I should amend my last review in that I think Neta is very learned on Hebrew grammar but she may sometimes not know the corresponding English term. This can give the (very wrong) impression that she does not understand grammar but this is not the case and should not be taken as a deficiency in knowledge. She is knowledgeable on it.
VERY IMPORTANT: Neta has clear audio and video (ברוך השם!!!) which is immensely helpful for understanding her Hebrew. She is also very cooperative with scheduling which I am thankful for.
