Ótima professora, gostei muito!

Aura is an excellent professor. We have a focus for each class, and interactive activities. Aura also gives me relevant homework. For the past couple of classes, we have been working on the verb - Haber and "El perterito perfecto" and I am really starting to feel comfortable with this tense, and know how and when to use it. I look forward to our next class.

Luzmar is such a great teacher. I would recommend her for anyone who really wants to learn Spanish in a fun and enjoyable manner. Thank you Luzmar!

Pros: Aura is very friendly and welcoming. She messaged me before the class asking about my level and gave me a placement test to take. She was very encouraging towards the end of class. Cons: Within the first 10 minutes I was uncomfortable with the assumptions that were made about me - she acted surprised when I said I was American, she asked me if I lived with my parents and seemed surprised when I mentioned my husband, and she asked me if I played in an orchestra when I said I was a musician (I'm a singer-songwriter). These all felt rooted in racial stereotypes, and she seemed to think I was younger than I am. She didn’t ask me why I wanted to learn Spanish. She didn’t seem to take any of the info I had messaged her into consideration - I had to mention multiple times that I speak French and Portuguese, and until then she didn't really tailor the lesson to my needs. She spoke mostly in Spanish, which was fine for me as I know Portuguese, but would have been challenging if I didn't.
