Jenni Maria

My main task was to start speaking Finnish. I was so afraid to speak because of the language barrier and besides I had quite a narrow vocabulary. I was very nervous during my first lesson with Jenni, but she was super attentive, smiley, good-looking, smart and patient. Every lesson we touched different themes, so my vocabulary began to widen and my language barrier broke. I would like to mention that we had a very friendly vibe during our online sessions and I liked it a lot. No dominance, no pressure, no depreciation. Only respect, understanding and total support. I appreciate much how she was continuously trying to plant a seed of puhekieli in my head, because it is very important in everyday life. In the beginning I refused to pay attention to it, but then I got used to it. This soft transition was a surprise for me, but it's 100% Jenni's credit. Kiitos kovasti, Jenni!

Jenni continues to encourage me throughout each lesson. She has helped me build on my existing knowledge so I can create sentences and ask questions. Not only is she helping increase my understanding of Finnish, but she is increasing my confidence to use it as well. Kiitos paljon Jenni!

There are three main improvements I've experienced with Jenni. (1) I feel more confident when speaking Finnish to native Finns (2) I have an easier time initiating or facilitating conversation with other Finnish learners around my level (3) Our lessons have given me a lot of practice in keeping our conversations in Finnish, even when I forget or stumble on a phrase. It's really valuable to me that I avoid 'switching to english' every time there is a bump in the conversation, and Jenni has been very supportive in helping me build these skills. Before the classes with Jenni, I was afraid to speak Finnish. But Jenni’s smile and her positive attitude helped me not to be afraid and to practice Finnish. Every lesson she makes very useful notes that help me a lot. We have been studying together for almost a year, and I am happy that I met her. I can strongly recommend Jenni as a great teacher. This trial lesson with Jenni went really well, she contacted me beforehand to know more about my language journey process and what I was expected, which I really appreciated because even though it was a trial lesson, at the end it felt like a real lesson where we talked in Finnish so she could evaluated my level. It was also fun and comfortable talking with her. I will definitely take more lessons in the futur!

I've really enjoyed working with Jenni! She is friendly but also provides constructive criticism where needed. I especially appreciate that she worked with me to find a learning plan that would be effective for me individually.
