Hello! I live on a fairly large island in Korea. I used to work as a software engineer, and now I work as a Korean tutor.
Language learning has always been one of my hobbies. Because of that interest, and for a few different reasons along the way, I eventually started teaching Korean.
When you study a new language, you often discover a new side of yourself. It’s always interesting to see how people express themselves differently in another language.
In my everyday life, I’m actually quite a quiet person. But in class, I’m very different. My students sometimes say it’s hard to imagine that I’m normally a quiet person!Ik als leerkracht
When we learn a language, I don’t think we are creating something completely new. Most of the time, we are simply recalling and reusing things we have heard before.
That’s why repetition is naturally very important. My job is to find ways to make that repetition effective without making it boring.
Each student receives homework tailored to their needs, including high-quality personalized audio recordings. With this homework, my students can practice reading, writing, and listening together, which makes a big difference.
I usually don’t leave written feedback after class. If something needs to be discussed, I prefer to talk about it during the lesson. Mijn lessen en manier van lesgeven
My lessons follow my own course roadmap.
We can choose a reference textbook if needed, but it is not required.
Usually beginner and intermediate lessons will begin with questions and answers in Korean.
Attendance: No-show = no refund.
Rescheduling:
You may reschedule anytime through the italki system. However, repeated last-minute rescheduling may be considered a lack of commitment to the lesson.
Cancellation:
Free cancellation is accepted up to 6 hours before the lesson with prior notice. Please try not to cancel frequently.
Late Cancellation:
Within 6 hours of the lesson time, 50% of the lesson fee will be charged.
Age Restriction:

Very nice introduction meeting - made effort to understand my current level of Korean and advise on best curriculum to advance my intentions for study. Will definitely sign up for a few classes based on initial interaction and see how our dynamic goes. So far so good!

Hoyeon is an amazing teacher and I highly recommend him to anyone wanting to learn or improve their Korean. He gives great feedback and is patient as you learn. The pace of the lessons is just right for me. I am confident I can reach my language goal with him.

I highly recommend my Korean teacher, Hoyeon. He explains everything very clearly and is extremely patient, which makes learning comfortable and enjoyable. His teaching style is organized and effective, and I feel that I am progressing quickly in a short time.
He provides helpful summaries and materials after each lesson, gives well-structured homework, and even sends audio recordings so I can practice listening and pronunciation between lessons. These extra resources make a big difference and really support the learning process.
He is a wonderful teacher, professional, supportive, and truly dedicated to his students’ progress.
