Moisés Durán

Moises is a wonderful teacher and a great conversationalist. He is an interesting and well-informed person. Our lessons feel like I’m visiting with an old friend who is kind enough to type corrections of my Spanish in the text box. He manages to correct me without making me feel self-conscious. When I began with Moises I was extremely uncomfortable speaking Spanish. With his patient and personalized instruction, I have become nearly fluent and feel confident speaking with native speakers. I was able to travel to Costa Rica and have conversations with people there who did not speak a word of English. I was able to understand them and make myself understood. I feel very luck to have found him and recommend him to everyone!

Moisés is the best teacher. He is so smart, encouraging, and has a good command of English so he understands how to translate what I'm trying to say in Spanish with ease. Our conversations have taken my Spanish to the next level. Now I can have conversations with my Spanish-speaking relatives with much more confidence. I am so grateful I found him after trying a few other teachers here.

The lesson was excellent. Moises is very knowledgeable in Spanish and his accent is really clear. I requested to read an article about DACA and immigration in United States, and as we read through it together we deconstructed it little by little. We shared a google doc, where I pasted all the words and phrases I didn't understand and he explained everything patiently. He gave example sentences for new and unfamiliar words so that I could see what other contexts to use them in. I was really impressed by his ability to explain something many different ways if I didn't understand it at first. A few times, we came across grammar points in the article and he would take the time to expand upon them. E.g. He explained the difference between "Qué pasará" y "Que pasara". Apart from reading the article, I also got good speaking practice with him. I found the corrections he typed up for me when I made errors to be useful. Definitely recommend him :)

I had a great first class with Moises. He was a great teacher, and very patient with my rudimentary Spanish, waiting without the least sign of impatience as I tried to remember basic connector words. I got lots of useful encouragement and feedback, and a clear plan on what to work on before my next lesson. Really productive class!

This was my first lesson with Moises. I will most definitely be taking more. He created such a calm and judgement free atmosphere, asked a lot of questions to gauge my speaking level, and effortlessly adapted to my needs during the lesson.
