Hello, my name is Hans Simons. I'm from the Netherlands and have lived in many countries such as the US, the UK, Colombia, Italy and Spain. I love reading, a good movie, cooking, thus good food. As you can see, I have travelled the world, which has given me a lot to talk about.
Mijn naam is Hans, en ik ben een verpleegkundige uit Nederland. Heb veel gereisd en heb dus behoorlijk wat ervaring en taal opgedaan gedurende al deze jaren. Mijn grootste hobby's (naast reizen) zijn lezen, een goede film en goed eten (kook dus zelf.)

After 4 years teaching here at iTalki, it is, time to update my profile a bit. Here at iTalki I have specialized in teaching Dutch to all level of students: from A0 to C1, inburgering, and medical Dutch for healthcare professionals. Besides Dutch, I also prepare students in English so they can go to Universities in Europe and the US.
Sinds iets meer dan 7 jaar geef ik ook Nederlandse les. Sinds 2020 ook hier op iTalki. Geef Nederlands aan alle soorten studenten, van A0 tot C1, voorbereiding en helpen met inburgering en ook medisch Nederlands voor gezondheidszorgpersoneel. Met andere woorden. My lessons are based on what you want and need. We make a plan together, that way you know what is going to happen and when it is going to happen. Most is conversation based with grammar and vocabulary explanations. In the exam preparation classes I'll not only show you the correct English use of things but also how to do the exam.
De Nederlandse taal wordt gegeven met de methode Zichtbaar Nederlands. We gaan eerst leren waarom zinnen op een bepaalde manier in elkaar gezet moeten worden, wat voor structuur we gebruiken en dan beetje bij beetje woordenschat uitbreiden met lezen, schrijven en praten. Had a great third lesson with Hans today. I am now a little less than 2 weeks away from my inburgerings exam and have been feeling anxious and overwhelmed by all the types of content to practice and also struggling with confidence in the speaking practice tests. Hans gave me great tips to ease my nerves and what areas to focus on in the coming week as well as worked with me live directly in one of the DUO practice tests and giving me direct feedback and tips in how I can answer the questions with ease and confidence and especially not to overthink it or try to give too complicated of an answer. Our lessons have been the perfect compliment to my self studies as well as some of his key grammar/spelling youtube videos.

Today was my last lesson with Hans before my inburgering exams tomorrow. as always I left feeling much less nervous and more confident in my ability to pass the test than I was before the lesson. Hans also gave me a lot of good tips to mentally/physically prepare myself for my test tomorrow (mostly by just resting) and and tackling it tomorrow/not overthink it. As someone with a lot of test anxiety, I really appreciated working with Hans as he not only has 20+ years experience teaching Durch, but knows the inburgering exam structure so well and has the ability to quickly and easily help you identify and master your week points, be confident in the key concepts, as well as give some nice pep talks. Really glad I found Hans and will definitely be recommending him to others looking for guidance as they study for the inburgering. Thanks Hans!

Great lesson today with Hans. Just a few more days left until my exam and I've been feeling nervous. Hans helped give me encouragement and focus on goals for the next few days to continue to study and prepare for success. it was also helpful to run through practice exams together again today and have his feedback.
